If you haven’t tried washi tape then you need to invest in some (especially if you’re into crafts). If you’ve never heard of it you will after reading this post!
It originates from Japan and has many different uses, not least because of the variety of colours and patterns you can buy it in and the endless possibilities you can use it for. It’s perfect for decorating or using instead of highlighters. Or you could personalise stationary with it.
I’ve used it to decorate endless jars and tins and also for sealing wrapping paper. But most recently I found a brilliant metallic gold set on Amazon (Washi Masking Tape Collection, Pack of 6 (Color Set 4)) and am hand making all my gift tags this Christmas (and hopefully forever onwards!). The tape is so easy to use and you can remove it once stuck down if you make a mistake, without it leaving any residue. It also easily tears so if you aren’t fussed about being too neat then you don’t need a pair of scissors or craft knife to hand.
I’m sure the quality of washi tape varies (there’s plenty of different ones out there) but you can never have too many tapes so start building your washi tape collection. You can buy them from places such as Etsy, Amazon, Paperchase and Hobbycraft so you just have to have a look around and see which ones sell the tape to fit your needs. If you want to be super organised you can buy a washi tape dispenser, but I haven’t quite got to that stage yet.
Do you already have a washi tape collection? If so, what do you use it for?
