I’m all for playing a good game in the evening, be it board game or card game, they always create so much fun (and competitiveness)! Since discovering it’s become quite addictive. It’s the sort of game where once you finish you just want to start another. And I know you’re thinking, phwoar after one game of monopoly I’m ready for bed, but this monopoly is a far speedier version with all the classics of the board version. OK, you aren’t going to make real money like the title suggests, but you are going to revel in your game tactics when your bank pile is bigger than everyone else’s.
What I love most about this version is that it’s quick, easy to play and actually creates so much fun. It’s a quick fire game so you can fit in a number of games and keep a score tally of who wins each game. Most games last no more than 20 minutes so it’s easy to play in between cooking your Sunday Roast. You’ve still got the Monopoly concept of collecting properties, but you only need to collect 3 different coloured property sets to win. There’s lots of exciting action cards you can play on your turn to back stab your opponents or to steal their properties. My best tip is to make money initially through using action cards to steal other people’s money (you’ll thank me later).
The fact that it comes in a small box means you can literally play it on the go, anywhere. We always take it on holidays (camping, skiing, cruising etc) but you can also play it on the train and take it to people’s houses. A bit more convenient than lugging around the huge board game box. It does come with instructions and 4 useful quick rule cards, however I did have to do a bit of googling as some rules weren’t overly clear.
If you plan on having a few friends round for a glass of wine or beers then this game will definitely get your evening going! Plus you can gang up on people if you are feeling a bit mean!
You can also get other board games in this form such as and . I’m yet to check these out!
Happy Monopoly playing! If you haven’t played this before definitely give it a go. Let me know if you’ve played it before or if you’ve tried any of the other games in the range.
