I’m always on the look out to try alternative ways of getting energy, instead of grabbing a packet of sweets or chocolate bar. I love reviewing small businesses, and even more so when there’s food involved. I’d seen Little Jem’s Kitchen get involved with my Small Biz Support Thread on Twitter I host every weekend, and when she asked if I’d like to collaborate with her and some handmade Energy Balls, I was never going to say no!
Naturally free from, vegan, made up of dried fruit, seeds and nuts, what more could you want to kick-start your day or get that much needed energy fix in the office?
Well, less of the talking… and on to the tasting…
Organic Choc & Almond – I’m not always a big fan of almonds, but I have to say they weren’t too overpowering in this energy ball. In fact, I liked these ones so much they started to become my staple breakfast snack.
Pistachio, Strawberry and Cardamom – These were energy bites (square ones, not balls) and woweee these tasted amazing! I loved the freeze dried strawberry in them that gave them a sweet flavour. I could definitely eat these one after the other.
Toffee Apple – This just screams Halloween and Autumn. And they really did bring back some childhood memories. The toffee complimented the sweet apple really well but personally I’m not too keen on apple in things ( I like them on their own though, weird!)
Organic Choc-Chilli – Everyone always thinks this is a weird combination, but chocolate chilli bars are all the rage these days and I love the kick you get with these energy balls.
Organic Choc-orange – If you are a lover of Terry’s Choc Orange (like me) then these are the energy balls for you. No other words needed.
Organic mint choc-crunch – These were definitely up the top of my list. I’m a big lover of anything with mint in and they were just perfect. Crunchy (as the title suggests) with a lovely smooth mint flavour bursting from them.
Overall, I absolutely love having these energy balls in my life for 3 reasons:
- They are there for you, on the go.
- You can really feel the goodness in them.
- They last for weeks in the fridge (or longer if you freeze them).
Oh, and I really love that these are a great way to snack, without all the bad bits. They arrived beautifully packaged too, considering the bumpy delivery they may have, but they were all still intact even when I opened up the box. Janna had kindly included details on which flavours were which, although I did also do a little bit of blind tasting too (long story!). So much thought goes into every order, from the colourful cases, to the ribbon around the box. These aren’t just energy balls, but energy balls with that edge.
- 6 balls for £5 (pick one flavour)
- 12 balls for £9.50 (pick up to two flavours)
- 24 balls for £18 (pick up to four flavours)
- 48 balls for £33 (pick any flavours)
Or, if you fancy Matcha & Pistachio, which have the fabulous added benefits of antioxidants and help aid mental stimulation and concentration, you can get these for:
- 6 balls for £6
- 12 balls for £11
- 24 balls for £21
- 48 balls for £3
So, there you go, hopefully you’re now drooling at your screens and eager to get your orders in. Amazing value, handmade, and delicious.
Contact Janna to order, over on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram and also keep up to date with any offers and new flavours. With Christmas on the horizon there will be Gingerbread and Christmas Pudding flavoured energy balls. You can’t go wrong with the taste of Christmas in one bite!
