Original Prints by Jane (as part of the #ShopSmall Blog Series)

This is the fourth post in my *brand new* #ShopSmall Blog Series

The Story Behind Original Prints by Jane

“I’m Jane Constable, an artist and printmaker with a passion for the colours and textures of nature. Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by birds and this comes over strongly in my work. I also have a love of dogs, which provides further subject matter for me to explore! I have a background in textile design which has developed into a fascination with all printmaking processes, but particularly monotype and linocut printing.

It is my mission to make affordable, beautiful art for everyone to own and enjoy. I am constantly developing my range of artworks on offer, giving everyone something to enjoy when they visit my shop.”

Tour Round the Store

Jane very kindly sent me a Pied Wagtail Linocut Card which is an incredible handmade card. High quality, thick card, and a beautiful piece to send to a bird or nature lover. Not only is it a card but it could also be framed to take centre stage on a wall once it has been used – recycling, upcycling and reusing at it’s finest!

In Jane’s Etsy Store there is a huge variety of framed prints, greeting cards and gifts for any occasion. Whether you are a bird lover, dog lover or you need a card for that special someone, Jane has put so much thought into the artwork she sells. An incredible level of detail is captured in each piece and Jane’s passion for this shines through. I can’t believe how brilliant her artwork is and I’m so glad I’ve discovered her work.

Compared to high street prices I think the value for money coupled with the quality and presentation is brilliant. Jane’s cards range from £3 – £4 and unframed prints from £9. Then if you use the discount code below, you really are on to a winner and you don’t even have to leave the house!

My Picks

Aside from the card Jane sent to me I also love the Dachshund Lino Print Card. It’s super cute, especially if you are a Dachshund lover, and it’s great that there is the option to choose the background, pink or blue depending on who it’s for.

Jane’s Mother Hen Pen Drawing is also a favourite (having been brought up with chickens at home) and I love that the photo is emphasising a mother’s love for her children. Perfect for Mother’s Day, Easter, or just to send to your Mum to show your love for her!

The Little Touches

  • The card Jane sent to me was really well packaged between 2 pieces of stiff board (to prevent any bending or damage) and was wrapped in gorgeous purple tissue paper. It was also sealed with one of Jane’s own personalised stickers. This was a lovely touch and even the sticker was so thoughtful. A lot better than just bog standard sellotape!
  • Jane also included her fab new business card which I have to say is amazing. Double sided, with her beautiful Goldfinch pen and ink drawing on the reverse side. The creativity doesn’t stop!
  • There is also the option for custom made orders. For example, if you would like your own dog bought to life in a linocut print then Jane offers this too and will happy make this to order! This would not only make a perfect gift but it is also a very touching way to remember a dog no longer with us.

Coming Soon…

Jane is planning on expanding her range of fabulous dog linocut prints/cards and do a range of popular breeds. I think this is going to be a real hit and I can’t wait to see these.

Also on the horizon is a British bird calendar to go on sale for Christmas and a range of linocut bird cards. Perfect for the garden and bird lovers out there. Also very useful if, like me, you don’t always know what birds are feeding on your sunflower seeds!

This is such a lovely review Rebecca I’m literally bowled over by this and also your subsequent tweets and IG posts. My youngest son persuaded me to go on Twitter a month or so ago and “find a blogger”! Turned out to be pretty sound advice!!
