The Story Behind Sandwick Bay Candles
Sandwick Bay Candles are a handcrafted soy candle company based out of Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides.
My candles are made in small batches using 100% natural soy wax, premium fragrances and pure cotton wicks. Soy wax is the better choice for you and the environment because it is all natural and biodegradable, unlike paraffin alternatives.
All of my products are handmade with love and care. I hope you enjoy our products as much as I enjoy making them for you.
Tour Round the Store
I’m a huge candle lover, especially in the winter months, so when I received my parcel all the way from the Outer Hebrides I was so excited! Inside the package were 3 of owner, Megan’s, 100% soy wax candles with cotton wicks! The first thing that struck me when I unwrapped the bubble wrap was the gorgeous scent that flowed out. A very good sign of a high quality candle. It was packaged so well and a lot of thought had gone in to it, I almost felt bad ripping it open! I chose to start burning the Pineapple Crush fragranced candle and it was clear that these were very high quality after about 2 minutes. The scent that filled the room was lovely and sweet and the candles actually burn much longer than supermarket ones, I was happily surprised! My living room has been smelling gorgeous ever since!
Soy is definitely the way forward if you are looking for a candle. For a start it is not tested on animals, it is eco-friendly and it also produces very little soot too. Winner winner.
I absolutely love Megan’s website and she has such an extensive fragrance list to choose from, I can guarantee there is a unique fragrance combination for everyone. You can get Wax Melts from as little as £4 or Small Candles in a tin for £6. There’s also Candles in a small glass jar for £8 or Gift Sets at £19. And it doesn’t stop there. Megan is obviously very passionate about what she offers with Sandwick Bay Candles that she also does Subscriptions, so you can have candles delivered straight to your door on a regular basis. No need to panic when you’ve finished burning a candle.
I was very kindly sent Champagne & Berries, Pineapple Crush and Black Plum & Rhubarb. Burning or not burning these candles smell so beautiful. Elegant fragrances but at the same time not overpowering at all. They created a really relaxing vibe and in their tin and look very impressive at the same time. I’ve already burned one candle fully and I am now using the tin to burn tealight candles in! I love reusing where I can and I would not want to throw away these lovely tins. They add such nice decor to any room whether in use or not.
I also love that you can buy Reed Diffusers too. I imagine these smell gorgeous, just like the candles and would be perfect in a hallway or lounge. It’s great that there is the option to buy these as they go so well as a gift with a candle.
The Little Touches
- The candles arrived very well packaged, in bubble wrap and lovely brown paper on the outside. This was sealed together with Sandwick Bay’s very own business card and beautiful string. It was the perfect packaging for candles and the attention to detail is spot on – perfect if you are giving as a gift.
- Inside there was also a really handy card full of tips for burning your candle to maximise the burning time you get from it. I thought this was a lovely touch to go with the candles.
- Megan also offers bespoke candles for wedding days so that you can have exactly what you want for your special day. What a lovely wedding favour or table centerpiece!
